Uganda
The Pearl of Africa
Uganda, known as the “Pearl of Africa,” is a country of stunning landscapes, including deep lakes, towering mountains, and lush rainforests, home to unique wildlife. It is home to 54% of the world’s mountain gorillas, with around 880 in existence, making it a vital contributor to global heritage. These gorillas reside in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park, both World Heritage sites.
Uganda is also rich in birdlife, with over 1,060 species, making up about 11% of the world’s bird species. It’s a birdwatcher’s paradise, with opportunities to spot diverse species right after arriving. The country also boasts Africa’s highest and largest mountain range, the Rwenzoris, located on the western rim of the Great Rift Valley.
As the source of the Nile River, Uganda is home to Lake Victoria, the world’s largest tropical freshwater lake. Beyond gorillas, Uganda offers safaris to see elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions, and leopards, providing an unforgettable adventure in a country blessed with incredible natural beauty.
